Mama Must-Have: The Happiest Baby SNOO Smart Sleeper Bassinet

snoo-smart-sleeper-review

Before Skyy’s arrival there was one thing that worried me the most. Can you guess what it was? I wasn’t worried about labor, or how Mac and I would adjust to becoming parents. I was worried the about getting sleep!

Before I get deep into this post, let me give you a little background about my love affair with sleep. It probably sounds cliche’ but napping has always been one of my favorite hobbies. As a kid, I was the girl that hated going to sleepovers because I had no desire to stay up all night. I was the girl that got teased for being the first one to fall asleep. Staying up late has never been my jam, and I’ve always needed at least 8 hours a night to perform as a fully functional adult.

The thought of losing sleep terrified me during my pregnancy. I knew that my days of getting plenty of snuggles with my pillows and blankets would be over. I wondered if Skyy would be a “good sleeper” and if Mac and I would be spared from becoming prisoners of insomnia. Trust me, I know that losing sleep is part of being a parent, but I wanted to try my best to limit the blow.

I learned about the SNOO a few years ago after seeing an ad on Facebook, and knew I had to have it when the time came for us to start a family. SNOO is a responsive baby bassinet that helps boost a baby’s sleep by combining gentle rocking with soothing white noise and snug, safe swaddling. It helps babies by imitating calming sensations of the womb. You can consider SNOO to be your night nurse or day nanny. There have been countless times where I’ve heard Skyy crying and her SNOO has rocked her back to sleep. Of course, SNOO doesn’t replace parents but it’s a huge help!

The App

You can control the SNOO with their handy dandy app. One of my favorite features of the SNOO app is the SNOO Log which allows me to track Skyy’s sleep each night. It’s really exciting to see Skyy’s sleep patterns and how her sleep has increased from week to week. You can also control the increase the motion and change the mode of your SNOO.

Why I LOVE it

There have been many nights where the SNOO has instantly calmed Skyy down. This has saved the hubster and I from getting up to calm her. We started using the SNOO as soon as we came home from the hospital and we noticed that Skyy started to sleep longer and longer. We’d only wake her up for night-time feedings. If the SNOO is unable to calm your baby, the app will alert you which is another one of my favorite features. Plus, SNOO’s special white-nose sounds are extremely calming for Skyy. They even have them available to stream here

The SNOO truly does function like a night-nurse and has been such a blessing for our family. I’ve never had to worry about Skyy’s safety while she’s in it because theirr unique, secure SNOO sack swaddle prevents rolling over. By the time Skyy turned 8 weeks old she was consistently sleeping about 7-8 hours per night! Now that she’s almost 5 months, she sleeps for 10-11 hours on average! Within the next week, we’re going to put our SNOO in weaning mode to slowly adjust her to sleep in her crib. You can learn more about how easy it is to transition your baby from SNOO to crib here

When Skyy was a newborn she suffered from a lot of acid reflux. If your baby has reflux, get a set of the SNOO leg lifters. They give your SNOO a slight incline and help tremendously.

Travel

Last month, we took our first family road trip and couldn’t leave without our SNOO. The SNOO travels well, and was easy to pack. It was great knowing that we could keep Skyy’s sleep environment consistent by bringing our SNOO on our trip.

SNOO’s Customer Service is OUTSTANDING! I’ve have multiple consultations with my Happiness Expert to answer questions and they’ve been super helpful and informative. If you have any questions about your SNOO or concerns they provide amazing support.

Cost

The SNOO costs $1,295 but it’s worth every single penny. Happiest Baby tends to have sales fairly often and it’s currently 30% off! You can also choose to rent your SNOO for about $3.90 which is a great cost-effective option.

Overall Thoughts

I’m pretty bummed that it’s time to transition Skyy out of her SNOO but it’s been a total lifesaver for us. We’ve gotten so much great usage out of it, and I firmly believe that it’s helped make Skyy such a good sleeper. I truly believe she’s the “happiest baby on the block” because she wakes up every morning in her SNOO smiling.

Have you tried the SNOO for your baby? How are you liking it so far?
