My Family Safari Day with the 2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro
/It’s official. I’m changing my name to Shasha Safari, going on more adventures, and purchasing a 2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro in Army Green! I had the best time ever during my family safari day at the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center and the 2020 Toyota TRD Pro is the ULTIMATE safari vehicle. Over the last few months, I’ve been on the hunt for social distancing family friendly activities. I heard great things about the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center (it’s a really cool drive thru safari park in Glen Rose) and figured it would be the perfect social distancing activity. Aside from wearing proper safari themed attire, and packing safari snacks, a sporty SUV is an absolute must! I was thrilled when my friends at Toyota allowed me to drive the 2020 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro for our safari day!
Features
Before I jump into all the cool features of this SUV, I have to take a moment to admire the exterior. The Army Green is goals and is unique and sporty! I’m in LOVE with this exclusive shade of green. The cargo basket, 17 inch alloy wheels with all terrain tires, and TRD tuned front springs give the SUV such an awesome sporty look. This vehicle is perfect and ready to handle any off-road adventure!
This SUV is so fun to drive. The lane departure warning is one of the vehicle’s dynamic safety features that gave me so much peace of mind whenever I needed to change lanes. I got plenty of use out of the radar cruise control system and it was awesome to use on the highway and country roads we traveled on. One of my favorite features of this vehicle is its sound system. This SUV has 15 JBL speakers and the 8-inch touchscreen is so cool! The SUV also has a neat navigation system that’s pretty easy to use too! You can access it through the touchscreen in addition to other apps and media.
The trunk space in this SUV is fantastic. It’s perfect for storing luggage and is the perfect space if you want to strike up a cool fashion pose!
The Safari Experience
We got so many waves and shouts from other vehicles who were driving through the safari. People kept saying we had the coolest safari SUV ever! During our safari animals came right up to our SUV it was unbelievable!
Planning A Visit to the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center
Keep these tips in mind for a great safari day.
Reserve and purchase your tickets online
Tickets are not sold at the park. Due to social distancing, Fossil Rim has a cap on the amount of visitors they can allow into the park. The park tends to sell out, so be sure to reserve your desired date as soon as possible. I purchased our tickets two weeks in advance.
Pack Plenty of Snacks
The amount of time it takes to tour the park can range anywhere from 2-4 hours. Pack plenty of snacks and drinks to enjoy along the way. There are portable restrooms available halfway through the park.
Go Early
Depending on the time of the day, you may not get to feed the giraffes. I’ve heard that it’s best to visit the park earlier in the day for a chance to feed them. Glen Rose is about 2 hours away from Dallas so keep the travel time in mind when planning.
Drive Down All the Park’s Roads
I made a wrong turn and accidentally exited the park too early! Be sure to drive down each marked road since some of the signs can be a little confusing.
