Hotel 50 Bowery: A Luxury Boutique New York Hotel in the Lower East Side

There’s no shortage of hotels when it comes to finding places to stay in New York. Navigating the hotel scene in New York can be overwhelming. I was really excited to stay at the Hotel 50 Bowery during my last visit.

Location

The hotel is located on Bowery St and the walkway to the Manhattan Bridge is across the street! Plus, the Brooklyn Bridge is a short walk away. If you plan on visiting Brooklyn or doing a lot of sightseeing within the Lower East Side, this hotel is a great option. The Canal St subway station is also nearby. The hotel’s location really came in handy when my husband and I wanted to explore Little Italy and Chinatown. Plus, it’s super convenient to Brooklyn.

The Rooftop

The rooftop views at Bowery 50 are incredible! There’s no reason for me to go into detail because the views are phenomenal!

Accommodations

I booked a City View king room and the view didn’t disappoint. The room was much larger in comparison to other NY hotel rooms I’ve stayed in. The bed was extremely comfortable and the bathroom was large! I really loved the walk in shower, and the water pressure was great.

Our room was light, bright, and airy! I’m infatuated with Instagrammable hotel rooms and this one was a clear winner! The hotel even sent a free bottle of champagne and a handwritten note to welcome us to the hotel. It was so sweet!

Would I Stay Here Again?

Yes and no. Yes, if I plan on spending a lot of time in Brooklyn and the Lower East Side. Although you can always jump on the subway, I probably wouldn’t book this hotel if I had a majority of my activities planned in Uptown. The hotel is a great base for certain activities, like visits to Little Italy, the Brooklyn Bridge etc, but is a little far if you’re in Uptown. But, this can easily be remedied if you plan your activities in advance and use the subway. The hotel’s service is great and it definitely checks off all the marks that any luxury hotel should. Did I also mention that it was voted the #3 Top Hotel in NYC? It’s definitely a gem!

Other Things You Should Know

Parking is scarce. The hotel offers valet parking but its expensive! My husband and I needed to briefly park our rental car to run inside our room to change clothes and we were quoted $60! Plus, parking in the area is very limited. Keep in mind that valet parking prices can fluctuate based on events that are happening in the area.

Rice & Gold is the hotel’s onsite restaurant. Free buffet breakfast was included in my package, but I wasn’t impressed with the selection. Although there were hot options available, the price doesn’t justify what you receive. There’s a cute Chinese bakery located next door to the hotel that serves reasonably priced pastries, coffee, and tea. I can’t remember the name of the cafe, but it’s the perfect spot to grab a quick bite before sightseeing.

Overall, Hotel 50 Bowery is a solid base for a visit to New York. I would definitely book the hotel if I planned on spending a lot of time in Brooklyn or Lower Manhattan. Have you ever visited New York? If so, where do you normally stay?
