The Coolest Place to Stay in Oklahoma City: 21c Museum Hotel

What happens when you combine a modern art museum with a historic Ford Motor company assembly plant, 25 iconic purple penguins, 135 hotels rooms and a contemporary restaurant with the best fried banana biscuits in history? You get the 21c Museum Hotel in Oklahoma City

The 21c Museum Hotel in Oklahoma City is the quirkiest hotel I've stayed at thus far. Trust me, I love quirky and the property delivered.

The hotel's building is the former historic Oklahoma City Ford Motor Company assembly plant. The hotel has done an outstanding job at updating the building and keeping some of the plants former fixtures, walls, and addititonal touches. I loved the red garage doors.

Location

The location is unbeatable. It's convenient to many popular attractions within the Oklahoma City area. I visited a few restaurants during my stay and the hotel was within a five-ten minute driving distance from some of my favorite OKC restaurants such as Waffle Champion, The Drake, and Cheever's Cafe. If you're coming into town for an Oklahoma City Thunder game or concert this is a wonderful hotel choice.

Accommodations

The hotel has 25 purple penguins located throughout the property. I was excited that there was one waiting for me in my room! I named him Harry. I stayed in a king bed room and it was fantastic.

I'd love to say that Harry the Penguin was my favorite thing about the room. However, the view of Downtown OKC was the real star.

Bathroom

I'm a stickler when it comes to a nice hotel bathroom and mine exceeded expectations. The Malin+Goetz bath products were phenomenal and the rum body wash was my fave. The hotel has a store where you can purchase toiletries and even rubber duckies! I also enjoyed the personalized service, thanks so much for the treats!

The Art Museum

The first floor of the hotel features a modern art museum. It was awesome to come downstairs to tour all the unique exhibitions. Free docent tours are available on Wednesdays and Fridays at 5pm.

Dining at Mary Eddy's Kitchen & Lounge

The hotel is home to Mary Eddy's Kitchen & Lounge. I visited the restaurant for brunch and the food was fantastic! The restaurant is extremely popular so make reservations. The food was so great, that you should dine here even if your not staying at the hotel. I decided to write a blog post about my experience at Mary Eddy's that you can check out here.

The 21c Museum Hotel in OKC is my go-to for a visit to the OKC area. The chain also has 5 other properties that I'm excited to check out. Have you ever stayed at a 21c Museum hotel property?
